A gifted teacher, Michael received U.S. Congressional Recognition for his outstanding and invaluable service to the community and has taught business plan writing, stock market analysis, and life skills to high-potential, low-opportunity youths as part of the Academy of Business Leadership Program (http://www.goabl.org).

Michael earned a BS degree in Economics and Communications from Northwestern University and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Based on the strength of his UCLA Anderson School application, he was selected for a Dean's Fellowship that paid for his first year of business school. Fewer than 10% of those attending the Anderson School receive this award. Michael is also a member of the Association of International Graduate Admissions Consultants.

MBA Admissions Director's Perspective

Alex Duke has spent more than 20 years working in MBA admissions and graduate school administration, evaluating close to 8000 MBA applications and reading more than 20,000 MBA essays. He has specific expertise evaluating international applicants and did so while serving on multiple MBA admissions committees. Alex was Director of Admissions and Student Affairs for the Executive MBA (EMBA) and Part Time MBA (FEMBA) Programs at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and also served on the MBA Admissions Committees of Indiana University and the University of Illinois at Chicago. He was an editorial contributor to the Kaplan/Newsweek Business School Admissions Adviser 1999 and co-author of "Making Technology Decisions for the Admissions Office" which appeared in the Graduate Management Admissions Council's Selections magazine in Spring 2002.

Alex received a PhD in Higher Education and a Master's degree in Education from Indiana University as well as a BA in History from UCLA. Alex's book Importing Oxbridge: English Residential Colleges and American Universities, was published by Yale University Press in 1996. He has taught at Indiana University and was a visiting professor of Education at Miami University of Ohio. He was most recently Assistant Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at the Pardee RAND Graduate School (PRGS). Part of the RAND Corporation, PRGS is the world's leading producer of public policy PhDs.
