Michael was amazing! He tears you down but builds you back up. He seeks perfection and has very high standards (believe me, that’s what you want from a consultant). After working with him extensively, the quality of my essays improved significantly, which helped me secure offers from Wharton and Harvard. Also, his turnaround time is quick (and he lets you know clearly when you can expect the next draft) and he is always very accommodating (as I am based in Asia) in scheduling calls to review the essays etc. Use his service if you want essays that are outstanding. Highly recommended.
Got accepted to Stanford Round 1! Michael was outstanding as an advisor. He had an excellent sense of how to find the right stories to tell and how to tell them perfectly. I couldn't have gotten in without him. Highly Recommended.
Detailed, creative, and experienced!
Thanks to Michael, I got accepted to HBS! He was instrumental in helping me brainstorm and craft a compelling essay that brought out the best of my professional and personal background. He is knowledgeable with what admissions look for, and is detail-oriented and creative in his approach. Highly recommend!
Terrific service. Not inexpensive but certainly worth the money if you are serious about top program. During the process I found my writing skills improving significantly, which is worth the money even without the MBA.
Mike Cohan is the best editor of essays I have ever seen. He can visualize precisely what you’re trying to convey, and optimize not only the clarity and strength of impression, but also the word economy while you say it. If your primary need is essay editing, you absolutely cannot do better.
Michael was an invaluable resource throughout my entire MBA application process. He invested a lot of time upfront to get to know my personal background and goals and was then instrumental in helping me craft my own story in the most effective and compelling way possible. Michael's deep knowledge of the different school's strengths and program traits helped me select the most appropriate themes for each application. He really digs deep into every single sentence of an essay until ideas are expressed as simply and effectively as possible. I also greatly appreciate his extremely quick turnaround time, email responsiveness, and continuous availability to speak in the midst of what is a very stressful and time-consuming process. I ended up being accepted at 5 of the M7 schools and can honestly say that it would not have been possible without Michael's help. He is a true perfectionist who gives brutally honest feedback and pushes you to give the very best that you can.
UCLA Anderson School of Management (Fellowship) and University of Michigan Ross School of Business (Fellowship)
Michael could very well be the best essay editor out there. Once he told me my first draft was almost in final shape, which led me to think changes would be minor. When I looked his edits, I was impressed. The content was the same, but the structure and wording was vastly improved. He is outstanding at identifying and removing fluff (saving lots of words) and asking you where to expand. He knows a great deal the top schools’ different strengths, unique traits, programs, etc., and will find a way to tailor your essays to each one of them while taking care of even the smallest details (e.g., once he told me not to use a specific word for one of my essays because it was in another school’s essay prompt). Michael’s editing prowess was apparent in every single essay he helped me with; he has the highest quality standard. I asked Michael not sugar-coat any feedback, which worked great for me. It was sometimes painful to hear it, but his feedback was spot-on, and really made a difference in
I interviewed several consultants but Michael came across as clearly outstanding. He has his own style, but we both put a lot of hours in to get the best out of my background and experience. Got admitted to Wharton! Many thanks Michael. Clearly top notch and highly recommended!
MBAPrepAdvantage was absolutely amazing and provided me with exceptional service. My consultant was instrumental in helping me craft detailed and descriptive essays. I received very personal and candid feedback, and positively meticulous editing services. My consultant was extremely professional, readily available to field calls, and understood the nuances specific to each school's application. He helped me tailor my essays to each school, and passionately coached me until I could describe my long and short term goals in a concise and thoughtful way. The level of energy and guidance was amazing - and he made my application much stronger than I ever imagined. My consultant took pride in his work, and is truly an expert at managing this process. I wholeheartedly recommend MBAPrepAdvantage!
Big Mike Cohan in the buildin!!! This guy is phenomenal. I was hesistant to use him as he's not as well known as Blackman/Maxx Duffy/ClearAdmit, but he came through big-time. Very logical thinker, so much more than a well-paid "English teacher" - gave me very good strategic feedback, much more so than the Blackman consultant I was using simultaneously (wallet=ouch 🙁 )
Michael is truly outstanding - he helped me identify weak areas of my candidacy and applied his unrivaled logic to help me craft a set of essays I felt truly proud of when complete. While I'm still waiting to hear back from HBS and Wharton Rd 2, I can rest easier knowing I put forth my best effort on these essays thanks to Michael. He is far more than a well-paid "English teacher" - he is a true quarterback of the process, and masterful at strategy. I'll report back in a few months hopefully with good news. ***UPDATE*** Admitted to Wharton Rd 2!!!! Thanks, Michael!!!
After a lot of research, I decided to go with MBAPrepAdvantage and couldn’t be happier with my decision. I chose MBAPrepAdvantage for several reasons... The founder Michael Cohan worked directly with me eliminating the concern I had related to being staffed with a consultant who had little experience. His quick responsiveness helped me manage the process. Michael genuinely cared about my success. He helped me improve my essays. He questioned how I thought and gave me guidance on how to improve my profile. His knowledge of my space and schools was remarkable. He motivated me to put together a complete package that accurately represented my life priorities and career goals. He was also instrumental in the overall strategy of the application process. With his help I was accepted into a top 5 program despite a low GMAT.
Mr. Cohan is an exceptional MBA admission strategist. From selecting schools to choosing essay stories, he provided me the best advice I could have ever received from a MBA consulting company. Mr. Cohan’s rich experience in MBA consulting helped me understand what top programs were looking for from each candidate so that I could present my traits and experiences in the most effective and unique fashion. He also shared significant tips with me on how to provide guidance to my recommenders and what type of information on a letter of recommendation would be valuable to admission officers. My letters of recommendation made a fundamental contribution to my overall application. Besides all of his valuable application strategies, Mr. Cohan’s outstanding essay editing service helped me to be admitted to my top choice MBA program. He pushed my thinking process, optimized my essay structures and polished my entire application while keeping my own voice. I would highly recommend Mr. Cohan.
Michael Cohan is the man! He took my essays from "pretty good" to "excellent". As a busy professional, I didn't have the capacity or consider all angles of the essay questions asked by my target school. Michael helped me think through all aspects of my resume, experience, and future goals to form thorough essay outlines, and then shaved that information down to what admissions committees are specifically looking for. Michael not only has consulted with MBA's for years, but is an MBA himself, so his ability to understand the psychology of an admissions professional is uncanny. Michael combines a high energy, helpful attitude, with the abilities of a professional editor, and is the reason why I am writing this review from the center courtyard on Wharton's campus. Thanks again Michael for helping this dream come true!!!!
Michael does an excellent job in driving you to present the best possible essay YOU can draft. Michael's in-depth knowledge of the various schools' programs and admissions processes allows him to offer well thought out recommendations and suggestions on anything you might need help with from school selection to application strategy to essay editing. I have no hesitation in recommending Michael's services!
Dedicated, thorough. Goes above and beyond
I've applied for Wharton EMBA in SF. I've used the services of Michael for essay writing, resume and interview preparation. Calling Michael just an admission consultant is an extreme understatement. He was there, available through out the process of application. He is more of a coach/friend than just a consultant. Always a phone call away. His ability to visualize exactly what you are trying to portray is simply amazing. His involvement has surely made all the difference to my application. In every aspect. Essays, recommendations, resume, interview. His understanding of different demographics and using that to your application is phenomenal. I'd recommend Michael for applications without batting an eyelid.
Michael was instrumental in my MBA admissions process and I could not recommend him more highly. He truly went above and beyond to help me craft the best application possible. Having also worked with another reputable consultant briefly, I can say that there really was no comparison between the two and that in working with Michael you are receiving the highest quality product available. He completely transformed my resume from a resume that was a barely readable to a polished final version that best highlights my skills and experience. My essays similarly shined after a lot of work with Michael in a way that would have been nearly impossible without his guidance. He is there whenever you need him throughout the process. Michael even went beyond his typical duties as a consultant and helped me to mitigate a challenging situation with one of my recommendations. I can confidently say that I would not have secured admission at two top 15 schools without Michael’s help. In conclusion, Michael is truly the best of the best in MBA consulting and is someone you really want by your side if you are trying to get into the top programs. Thanks for everything Michael!
I was very fortunate to work with Mike. He did an excellent job helping me prepare my application under an intense time constraint. He also provided me with coaching that enabled me to position myself and my application in a way that maximized my opportunity for acceptance. His efforts resulted in a successful application to Columbia.
Admissions expert who genuinely cares about your success
I used Michael's resume editing service while applying to business school. He reviewed every line of my resume and provided detailed feedback about formatting and content by phone and email. He wanted each bullet point to be a value-add. By the end of the revision cycle, it transformed into a more results oriented, impactful resume. Thanks Michael. I'll be attending Chicago Booth in the fall!
Michael was an invaluable resource. He pushes you to present the best version of yourself. He has a lot of insight and understands the process.
Coming from an engineering background, I initially had difficulty discussing my experience in a way that would resonate with MBA admissions officials. Michael helped me enormously in that regard, and found a way for me to craft my 'story' in a way that was both genuine and effective. Other consultants I spoke with were pessimistic about my chances of getting into Kellogg, but Michael clearly knows what admission officials are looking for, as (with his help) I was able to receive an admission offer.
Michael is a superb admissions consultant. He understands what it takes to develop a thoughtful story and create stellar essays. He also prepares you extremely well for the interviews.
I just heard from HBS and I've been accepted in Round 3!! I found Michael's input really useful, both with the guidance on essay direction and interview prep. You can count on him to be relentlessly logical. Be warned, he will poke holes in your carefully constructed arguments so he's definitely not for the faint-hearted :). My advice to anyone working with Michael: he's great, reflect on his advice seriously and craft your own story in your own voice.
Michael is not only a consultant, but also a mentor. There were times I felt like giving up, but his encouragement and the fact that he was even working harder than I was really motivated and encouraged me. I will recommend him to anyone that wants to apply once and get it over with...
Michael is an amazing admissions consultant. He takes the time to get to know your background, your goals and develops a strategy to fit your application to what admissions committees are looking for. Michael was extremely helpful during the essay development and essay editing process. Don't be discouraged when what you thought was a great essay comes back to you bleeding with red comments all over. Despite the number of applicants Michael was working with (all with the same deadlines), Michael always made time to call me or email me back in a timely manner. He also made me feel comfortable enough for me to push back on certain ideas or direction of the essays. Most importantly, Michael identified my strengths and reminded me of them during times of discouragement/frustration. Michael is not a cheap advisor, but you get what you pay for, and I have no doubt Michael armed me with the best application possible.
Excellent coaching, prompt and insightful essay reviews. I strongly recommend Michael!
Michael knows what your best image is, he digs deeper than friends with piercing questions that leads to amazing essays bringing out qualities that the admissions committees are looking for. At the same time, his practical and no-nonsense work ethic allows applicants to effectively apply to multiple schools. If you believe an MBA is a good investment, using MBAPREPADVANTAGE is a great investment.
Michael is a great partner in the application process. He motivates his clients, refines their essays and ideas through detailed insightful critques, and offers great input into the game theory involved in applications. Michael is a very high caliber professional--he is not cheap--but you get what you pay for and then some.
I applied and was accepted to the Tuck Class of 2016. Working with Michael was an enormous help. From the start he pushed me to dig deeper when discussing all of the parts of my application, from what I would bring to Tuck to my goals to my experiences. This enabled me to write much better essays. In the essay editing process he was able to work very quickly (I was under a major time constraint given my late GMAT test date), and provide helpful, honest feedback. I would definitely recommend his services.
Excellent coaching, prompt and insightful essay reviews. I strongly recommend Michael!
Michael is an exceptional coach and well-informed Admissions Consulting Partner who will help you navigate the unpredictable and tenuous terrain of Business School applications. I worked closely with Michael over the past year and I am glad to say that he has played an important role in my successful applications resulting in ADMITS to MULTIPLE tier 1 schools. I was an Executive MBA applicant and Michael was very helpful in pointing out the areas that were more important to highlight in my essays. He is one the best ‘editing’ professionals I have seen and has a keen sense for suggesting optimal positioning of key concepts that make your essay content ‘clear and precise’. Last but not least, he is very accessible (even when travelling), prompt in his responses and delivers on his commitments. I strongly recommend him to anyone looking to further bolster his or her Business School application! Thanks Michael!!!
Michael was very helpful throughout the application process as well as in preparation for the interview. The mock interview and his comments thereafter helped me prioritize the key messages I wanted to convey in the interview. Thank you, Michael!
Michael offered an amazing service. He truly cares and is very dedicated. I even received a fellowship!
Got accepted into Cornell and CMU full-time MBA programs. Michael is truly outstanding and superior to other companies. I would highly recommend Michael for his application services. His revisions, objective analysis and insights into the essays helped me prepare a much better application. You have to be open-minded about accepting criticisms because he will tear you down (your revisions will bleed red)- he will point out all the deficiencies and logical inconsistencies in your essays and then help you build a properly structured argument for your application. He ensures that your application as a whole makes a convincing argument and not just in disparate parts. In short you if you are serious about getting into a top school then you should definitely go to him.
Michael has given me some incredible assistance through my application process. He has an in-depth knowledge of how this system works and can help to tailor a complete package. He made sure that my essays made sense rather than just sound good. Furthemore, his help in interviews, waitlist, adcom communication etc... helped me to add strength to my app at the right time. Very encouraging, very effective!!
I would highly recommend MBAPrepAdvantage. Michael really drove me - the essays I thought were pretty good turned out to be not nearly introspective enough. I appreciated the way he didn't try to rewrite what I said, but instead tried to show me how to best convey the message I wanted to send. His comments are tough, but very thorough.
